We look forward to meeting you!
At Bethany Lutheran, we're always excited to welcome new visitors. We hope you'll join us for a service, and we want to make your visit as comfortable as possible. Here's what you can expect when you come to either our 8:30 or 11:00 a.m. service.
No matter what your background is, we hope you'll join us or reach out to contact us. Here at Bethany, we are all sinners seeking truth and grace. Whether you're a lifelong believer or new to the faith, we want to walk alongside you and be part of your journey to Christ.
Bethany is located at
2202 Forest Dr. SE,
between Washington High School
and Cottage Grove Place.
When you walk in,
find one of our greeters and introduce yourself. They're stationed at the front doors, and they will be happy to meet you and answer your questions. They'll help you find the sanctuary for worship, and the nursery or Sunday school rooms if you have kids.
At service, please fill out a guest card from the pews and place it in the offering plate.
What To Expect
Both services incorporate scripture readings, a message, prayers, and creeds. You'll hear our faith expressed in the songs we sing, prayers we offer up and our pastor's preaching. All parts of our service are grounded in the Bible, which we are committed to upholding.
Communion is served on the first and third Sundays of each month. Please meet with an elder or Pastor Erickson if you would like to take communion.
8:30 Traditional Service
In our traditional service, we follow liturgy and sing hymns from the Lutheran Service Book. We sing to the organ, and special music is provided by handbells, vocal choir, or instrumentalists.
11:00 Contemporary Service
In our contemporary service, we still incorporate all the elements of a traditional service, but in a more modern format. We sing contemporary songs led by a praise band.
We seek to create a fun and loving environment for all children to learn about the good news of Jesus Christ. Sunday School is offered for children in preschool and elementary school on Sundays at 9:45 a.m. Nursery is offered for infants and toddlers during the 11:00 a.m. service.
Sunday School is offered for middle school and high school at 9:45 a.m. Confirmation instruction is offered on Wednesday evenings for students in 7th and 8th grade. Every three years, high school students participate in the LCMS National Youth Gathering.
Men gather for Bible study on Wednesday mornings at 6:00 a.m. at Bethany. They also meet occasionally for breakfast.
Women have the opportunity to participate in LWML (Lutheran Women's Missionary Leage). There is also a group of women who meet for study and fellowship on Monday mornings at Mr. Beans in Marion.
Senior worship is held on the third Thursday of each month at 11:00 a.m. A fellowship luncheon is served after senior worship.
